Carpe Die M

Carpe Die M.

I tried to seize the day
But
It was a slippery little fish, and it
Got away from me
Again

The line became too taught
Snapped back
Cutting me like a knife

I’ll go back to the river
Tomorrow
Try again
Let the flow control my world
Loose myself in the struggle

Forget the reality,
for a while
Move upstream
Try to catch that elusive fish
Enjoy the challenge
Live for the day.

Carpe Die M

“Carpe Die M” is a thought-provoking poem that plays on the well-known Latin phrase “Carpe Diem,” meaning “seize the day.” In this clever twist, the poet invites us to “seize the die,” suggesting a gamble or risk-taking approach to life. The poem explores themes of chance, fate, and the unpredictability of existence, encouraging readers to embrace the randomness of life’s journey.

Through vivid imagery and concise language, the poem paints a picture of life as a game of dice, where each roll represents our choices and their consequences. It challenges us to consider how we navigate the uncertainties of our daily lives and whether we’re truly making the most of the opportunities presented to us.
