I was born in a snowstorm the worst ever known
Six foot snowdrifts surrounded my home.
So it’s no surprise my aversion to the cold
I was a delicate child…or so I was told.
I wasn’t always like this, in my teens it was the norm
For jiving and courting, was the way to keep warm.
Out comes the thermals white black and beige
Even the long-johns show off my age.
Why couldn’t my parents when married and lain
Have lived somewhere hot, like Bermuda or Spain.
In truth I should hibernate, make a nest and keep warm
Oh why in a snowstorm did I have to be born?
But now I have a strategy and one I use year round
It gives me warmth and pleasure…a feeling most profound.
At night I feel no cold, and stretch and smile and thank it
It’s wonderful and cosy; is my trusty electric blanket!
