Unromantic

A vision of gorgeousness stood to greet me,
His handshake just set me a quiver.
Dressed in scrubs of pale blue, it was quite plain to see,
Why I melted…and was all of a dither.

My toe nails were hard; crumbly and green
When I went to the foot doctor – to get them seen.
And while I was there, a verruca he spied;
‘That’ll have to come out,’ he woefully cried.

‘There’s fungal afoot round these ‘ere toes,
And an odour quite strong…like cheese tha’ knows.’
A surgical mask and gloves went on, a whiff of antiseptic too.
‘That bunions a whopper and there’s corns here and there,
In fact…you’ve got quite a few!’

Hard skin and dry skin and skin that is peeling,
‘Poor foot hygiene Miss; is quite revealing.
Did you know that your arches have dropped and your nails ridged and yellow?’
I sat there quite shame-faced in front of the fellow.

When all was inspected; scraped cleaned and done,
I asked the Adonis; ‘Is this how you have fun?”
‘No,’ he replied smiling, while cleaning his knife…
…And that’s how I met…The love of my life!
